“Once a year, the stunning landscapes of Finland's lake district play host to the fastest rally on the World Rally Championship calendar: Neste Rally Finland. CNN's Rally Team! travels to the Nordic country to follow one of the sport's most successful teams: TOYOTA GAZOO Racing. We meet team principal and four times world rally champion Tommi Mäkinen, who was tasked with developing a rally car for TOYOTA’s competitive return back in 2015. As the team prepare for the race ahead, we visit his garage in Puuppola, where TOYOTA GAZOO came together in just under two years; Mäkinen gives us a unique insight into the new Yaris WRC and shows us how technology and innovation inform the car's design and development. Unlike the controlled environment of circuit racing, rallying embraces the uncertainty that comes with changing road conditions; we go behind-the-scenes of the TOYOTA GAZOO's service garage, where the mental mettle of everyone involved is put to the test. There, we speak with chief engineer Tom Fowler to find out what it takes to run a team at a competitive level.
